These are some inspiring eco-friendly themed books that I recommend. They have changed my life.
No Impact Man by Colin Beavan (link). My Mom gave this book to me as a Christmas present, and it opened my eyes to the fact that individuals CAN make a difference. Thank you to Colin Beavan and thanks Mom!
Sleeping Naked is Green by Vanessa Farquharson (link). Vanessa made one green change each day for a year. This directly motivated me to start my Green Challenge of 52 changes in 52 weeks. I am not exaggerating when I say that this changed my life.
Hot, Flat, and Crowded: Why We Need a Green Revolution by Thomas L. Friedman (link). This book presents logical arguments for environmental sustainability base on political, economic, and ecological reasons. I highly recommend this book especially for those individuals that think we can’t afford to go green.
Toolbox for Sustainable City Living by Scott Kellogg, Stacy Pettigrew, Juan Martinez. If climate change (or anything) causes the collapse of civilization as we know it, then this book will be a great resource. It’s also a great resource for anyone looking for ways to live sustainably.
The Story of Stuff by Annie Leonard (link). After reading this book, I began to question everything in our consumer-crazed culture. I’ve read a lot of environmentally-themed books, however this one presented an argument to change our culture which will save the planet and also make everyone happier. How could anyone argue against that?
The Consumer’s Guide to Effective Environmental Choices by Michael Brower and Warren Leon. I read this book years ago, but I’d still recommend it. It gave a different perspective on many frequently used items and activities.
Of course there’s lot of other great books, but these are the ones that have had the biggest impact on my life.
